It is the first trye 3rd generation interface in people's hands. This is hte furture.

Really folks (the naysayers)... What device out there works as well as an iphone? There are those so afraid of change they cannot embrace the beauty of this device's blending of multiple technologies. And to do it as well as this one can... Hands down the most profound product introduced in ages.

detractors say that present phones do more for less. That may be true, but iPhone is the future. You can add new functions through widgets, so the possibilities are endless. While all the others copy each other, the iPhone changes everything.

helio ocean offers more bang for less bucks and it came out before the iphone, i.e. iphone is not as ground-breaking as people think. some iphone owners are already reporting dead zones on the touch pad. so no on the award.

The perfect combination of beauty and function. I have owned mine for 2 months now and I have still have moments when just hold it in my hand and marvel. Great design should be breakthough and this is surely that. Simple, elegant, good and true.

Hype overrules function. My Treo does more, better, but has a smaller advertising budget. Welcome to 2007, where form in its most braindead sense overrules function. "Paris Hilton for President - she has such AWESOME handbags!"

It's the phone of the future now.Jim

The very first phone that I have seen that seamlessly integrates the functions of 2-3 everyday electronic gadgets that I carried in my pocket, with the cleanest UI and practical industrial design.

Typically Apple to create a combination of form and function that changes and improves how we do things. No other phone even comes close to the iPhone.

I've worked in this industry for year and this is the first device I actually love. It's design is going to have a massive impact on other handset designers and has set a new standard that will benefit all wireless customers.

I can finally go everywhere without having to lug around a cell phone, an ipod, a pda device, etc. Stylish, user friendly (who needs a manual when you can figure it out without one), technologically marvellous. If you have not seen it or used it, hold your comments till you've done!

Apple created a Wow factor in phone design. Most other phones have lot of features but none is as sleek looking and is as loaded as iPhone. Won't call it perfect as I'm sure Apple is going to improve it!

You have to hold an iPhone to appreciate its incredible form factor. The attention to details is classic Apple. Once you get past the Fabrege Jewel like appearance you get to a whole new level of superior design--the user interface. This must be experienced to appreciate its brilliance. Check it out

Certainly the most elegant device I've ever used. Not without it's limitations but ultimately seeing how Apple resolves those issues will be the true test of a great design.

Its a cool devise but its linked with awful service. Had way too many bad experience with ATT to even consider them. Wont buy it as long as ATT is the carrier providing the service.

There are so many other fine designs nominated here. But in a macro-sense, this was really the year-of-the-phone. The physical package is nice, but we will look back on its UI innovations as truly watershed.

not only does it make my life a heck of a lot easier but its slick, professional and serious. The iPhone, to me, has brought the technology of the future to the present.

Simple, functional, elegant, upgradeable and able to converge multiple technologies without a keyboard, the iPhone has taken cellular to the next level. Apple creatively beat established phone industry design teams. My hunch is that an iPhone will stand in a permament exhibit of the Cooper-Hewitt.

Truly a revolutionary design that will influence the electronics industry well into the future. A great example of American ingenuity and design.

The interface sets a new standard for ease of use. It is so intuitive and user-friendly that my toddlers can figure it out. And yet it has enough depth that after three full months of heavy use I still find myself picking it up just to play around. It has more value than anything I've ever bought.

The iPhone is in a league of its own. Regardless of all the gripes that one may read about on the net, the iPhone has too many features to marvel about. Personally, I like the touch and feel of the device (i.e.: the sturdy glass face plate and soft alluminum housing.

It's great design, because it was able to rip off the early adopters $200, before the price slash. That has to be great design!

My RAZR came with a 1/4 inch thick manual I never read. My iPhone came with an 8 or 10 panel brochure. All I ever did with my RAZR was make phone calls. I can use every function on my iPhone. That's user-centric design. Oh, and it looks freakin' beautiful.

I think it works pretty well, after using it for a couple months now. Overall, I feel like the interface is a little complicated, compared to the simplicity of the iPod.

it's not good design, it's too limited. Yes it is sexy ,but apparently it doesn't really work all that well; not to mention ultimately it's functionality is not controlled by apple. so why encourage them. - m
