It's smart! The contradiction of the "everything is ok" vs the real meaning of yellow tape that we all know. The irony of it actually makes me chuckle.

Early rolls were indeed on a "biodegradable" plastic. The barricade tape is now available in woven cellulose which is fully biodegradeable.

Is it biodegradable? Very nice conceptually, but ultimately a petroluem-based one-liner destined for the landfill.

seeing this makes everything ok - even for a few minutes. that has to mean something, change something, in the world. one of the best designs i've ever seen.

Brilliant if it was sold through a "create your own" message web interface. I can see marketing companies pulling stunts in NY City already...sadly hard to stop anyone from stealing this idea it's so simple - but briliant.

greats!

This seems like everything that true design really means. I agree with the others about "changing people's vision" of reality.

superb idea.

this is so original - what design is all about. turning something into its own opposite!

mind-changing design - landscape, design. amazing and creatve on so many levels.

fantstic - design for (and of) transformative vision.
better by far than all the others put together!!

this design moves thorugh the city like a civilised song. this is true design - not just something "cool" and useless nor something that speaks to a specific group - but a new design for society. A message to humanity.

got my vote! very smart thinking.

This has immense aesthetic and philosophical appeal. Absolutely stunning in concept and manifestation. Truly "intelligent design."

Graphic design as therapy. Who'd have thought?

Love it.

Everyone needs to hear that everything is ok once in a while.
I appreciate how much more impactful this message is when put in this context. A reassuring message works better when you've just been put into a mild state of concern (by the yellow tape).

hey emerson
isn't "bellyfeel ingsoc" as affirmative a message as "everything is ok", especially if juxtaposed next to a crime scene?

This piece of design doesn't cost any money to interact with it—just an understanding of a ubiquitous phrase. It's a charming gift to discover on the streets.

Interesting.
Paul: See online Orwell's "Politics and the English Language." He was not "Orwellian." The attribution of that phrase is the worst kind of irony.
Posted by emerson
I enjoy the irony. Very George Orwell.

Very nice and calming. It's good to see this message from our yellow, 'yield' metaphor and not the typical 'Do Not Cross' command. Simple, yet impacting.
