National Design Week

National Design Week takes place at Cooper-Hewitt from October 14–20 and is an initiative to draw national attention to the ways in which design enriches everyday life, through outreach to school teachers and their students, and partnerships with design organizations across the country.

• Teen Design Fair Monday, October 15

  New York City area teens are invited to the Museum to learn about design careers from professional designers and design colleges.

• National Design Awards Winners' Panel Tuesday, October 16

  National Design Award winners participate in a panel discussion about the state of contemporary design in America.

• The Business of Design Wednesday, October 17

  Business leaders discuss how green design impacts their overall strategy and affects their bottom line.

• National Design Awards Gala and After-Party Thursday, October 18

  Celebrate the 2007 National Design Awards at the annual ceremony, dinner, and After-Party. The People's Design Award winner will be announced at 10:00 p.m.

• Educator Open House Friday, October 19

  Educators are invited to celebrate National Design Week by learning about Cooper-Hewitt's many education programs.
